Certainly sounds convincing, Even Quentin Wilson has been quoted as endorsing it. Can't see how a produc that builds up worn down parts can help prevent tappet noise as I understand tappet noise to be caused from a restriction in the whole that allows oil into the tappets.

All the same, anyone come across this product before?

It states it's specifically not engine oil thickner, rather it fills in irregularities:

WHAT IS RESTORE?

Every vehicle's engine wears out as a result of friction during normal operation. This friction causes wear of the cylinder walls which leads to compression loss. Lost compression results in your engine having less power --- it runs poorly and has sluggish acceleration. It also can cause increased oil burning, exhaust smoking, and poor fuel economy.

RESTORE Engine Restorer and Lubricant is a unique engine additive that repairs those worn-out areas in the cylinder wall thereby restoring cylinder compression and improving engine performance to nearly new original condition. RESTORE is the only product that contains the proprietary CSL formula. This technologically advanced formulation fills in and seals micro-leaks in the cylinder wall. The result is increased engine compression and more engine power. Independent lab tests prove that RESTORE really works to increase cylinder compression.

HOW RESTORE WORKS

Friction and heat cause wear of the cylinder walls inside every car's engine. As a result of this wear, compression leaks develop between piston rings and cylinder walls. This gradual loss in cylinder compression results in less engine power, sluggish acceleration, oil burning, exhaust smoking and poor fuel economy.

RESTORE Engine Restorer and Lubricant is a unique engine additive that fills and seals microscopic leaks in cylinder walls. Restore works to increase and balance compression across all cylinders which means a smoother running engine with more power, less oil burning and better fuel efficiency.

Each can of RESTORE contains billions of micro-particles of the proprietary formula CSL (Copper 60%, Lead 40%, Silver <1%) suspended in a high performance motor oil.

Although RESTORE is added to the motor oil but it is not an oil additive. Why?
Simply, because an oil additive, by definition, is a product which is added to automotive oil in the crankcase with the intended purpose of modifying the oil characteristics such as viscosity, detergency, foaming, etc ...
RESTORE is not an oil additive in this sense. It is rather an engine additive because it acts on the engine itself playing a double role :
The CSL particles fill scratches, grooves and other worn out areas between the piston and the cylinder wall in the engine.
The CSL particles provide maximum natural lubrication due to their high percentage of lead even under very high temperatures.
The action of RESTORE reduces friction and rebuilds metal surfaces, which in turn restores lost power and reduces oil & fuel consumption.

RESTORE is not an oil thickener and contains no chlorine, PTFE, Teflon, silicone, graphite, moly or ceramic substances (asbestos).  Each can of RESTORE contains billions of micro-particles (2 microns +) of the proprietary formula CSL (Copper 60%, Lead 40%, Silver trace) suspended in a high performance motor oil.

It works effectively wherever friction and wear cuts scratches in metal surfaces, such as cylinder walls, crankshaft and bearings.  As a result, RESTORE has been known to cure piston-slap, noisy tappets and even fledgling bottom-end knock.

PLEASE NOTE as miraculous as its properties may seem, RESTORE cannot repair broken parts such as cracked cylinder heads or re-plate bearings which have worn right down to the copper lining.  If you are buying RESTORE to repair a problematic engine please ask your mechanic for a diagnosis of the fault before you commence treatment so that your expectations for RESTORE are not unrealistic.

HOW MUCH DO I NEED?

Ametech RESTORE Engine Restorer and Lubricant can be used in both petrol and diesel engines.  It can be used in cars, lorries, agricultural vehicles, construction plant, motorcycles, marine craft, garden equipment, power tools and many other appliances.  How much Restore oil to use will depend on the size of your engine.

For a first time application we recommend 20-25% of RESTORE to each litre of engine size.  For example a 1000cc vehicle you would need one 250ml can of RESTORE, for a 2 litre engine you would need two 250ml cans and for a 4-5 litre engine you would need one 1 litre can.

Add to clean engine oil, with a new filter, for best results.  RESTORE is compatible with any standard mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic motor oil, providing there are no friction-reducers (like chlorine, Teflon, PTFE or Moly) in the oil e.g. Slick 50, Prolong, Activ8, Motorup, STP and Wynn’s friction-reducers.  RESTORE is not compatible with the new range of plant Esters such as Magnatec, or Silkolene R racing oils which contain positively charged particles which stick to metals.  This kind of oil or additive will work against RESTORE being successful.  If you have had friction-reducers in your engine recently, it’s best to flush the engine before using RESTORE.  However, once RESTORE has worked its magic you can go back to your normal additive if you wish.

Under normal driving conditions, RESTORE will benefit and protect your engine for up to 12,000 miles.  After the initial recommended dosage, it is recommended that 5% RESTORE by volume to engine oil is maintained in the engine at all times to offer continued protection and wear reversal.  In a standard type family saloon, this equates to one 250ml can of RESTORE.  Add one of these to the oil at every oil change, or once every 12,000 miles for best results.

Ametech has been successfully selling RESTORE in the UK since 2003.  To view the feedback from their many satisfied customers please visit Ametech's Ebay site by clicking on the link below:

Customer Testimonials

14 December 2007 – Nissan Largo 2.0, 1996 – Hi. I have got to say wow.
I have a turbo diesel 2 litre 1996 nissan largo that i imported from japan. had all the usual done, full service including oil change, timing belt etc, but even with all this done to her, she still sounded very noisy on tick over & at normal driving speed, loads of blue smoke on start up & was very sluggish on acceleration.  so i thought i would try AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE OIL & to say i noticed the difference in her after the first week would be an understatement.

1= SHE STARTED BETTER
2= THERE WAS NO MORE BLUE SMOKE
3= THE WHOLE FAMILY NOTICED SHE WAS SO MUCH QUIETER THAN BEFORE
4= SHE ACCELERATES SO MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE
5= WITHOUT A DOUBT I HAVE NOTICED THE MPG IS A LOT BETTER .

I am no expert when it comes to cars but there were real noticeable changes in our nissan largo once i had used the engine restore oil & i can agree without a doubt it really does do what they claim. I WILL BE USING IT AGAIN.  KIND REGARDS FROM A VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER. perry8408 (eBay ID)

5 March 2008 - ROVER K Series Engines - Hello David, I would just like to say a few words about your product. Every Rover owner will know how noisy the K series engine is, from tappets to the engine being all alloy with steel liners (clatters on cold start), making this off putting to buyers when you come to sell your car.  Having used your product on 3 occasions now, the difference to the engines I have used this on is remarkable. I stress to all new purchasers, allow time for the product to do its work!  500 to 1000 miles will produce a huge improvement. Many Thanks again. Chris Cook, Norfolk.

25 March 2008 – Ford Mondeo TDDI, 2001 - Hi, just to let you know that although I haven't done 1000 miles yet I'm impressed - it actually makes a difference. I put the restore into my 2001 Mondeo tddi, prior to application the engine was very noisy even for a ford and pushed a lot of smoke out on start up and heavy acceleration. After only 300 miles the engine was quieter and the smoke reduced, now at 580 miles after application the smoke has gone - my mechanic asked me what I'd done do it. As a bonus I now get an extra 2mpg (urban), not a lot I know but its more than before!!  In future I'll put this in every car I get whether it needs it or not!! Thanks, Andy, Lincolnshire

"If your engine is low on compression and a bit smoky you’ve really got to try Ametech Engine Restorer. You add it at an oil change and it reverses engine wear. I know these magic cure-alls have been around for ages, but this one really does work. A mate’s Bentley S2 had a flickering oil light at low revs and clouds of blue smoke from the rear. Rather than swallow the two grand hit for an overhaul, he dumped two litres of Ametech (Engine Restore Oil) into the sump. His S2 is now ‘running as sweet as a nut’, with no smoke and no blinking oil pressure light. Ametech’s not cheap, but it’s a very sound investment."

I am always very suspicious of all products that claim miracles.

Hmm, me too, but that last quote is meant to be from Quentin Wilson himself, albeit about 5 years ago. It contains particles of silver and other stuff which is meant to leave deposits in any cracks or gouges. I've heard the williams engine gets better with age anyway but would believe it if it did improve performance, especially oil pressure, I'd also believe it if it wrecked engines, anyone fancy experimenting with it?
