There is one for sale on williamsclio

http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39783

they are 50 quid new from renault. Based on the fact that even oldish ones go for stupid money, i would bite the bullet and buy a new one from renault and clean it and look after it.

Thanks Rob, I messaged the guy yesterday, he's got back to me and I've agreed to take it (so long as he can post it)
Sorted a parcel shelf too for £25 delivered. I missed the sale on ebay so had to dodgily contact him through another of his listings, not going through ebay so I guess I'm gambling £25 really.

Good man, now get that alternator belt done before it takes the cam belt out. Guide in the guides section, no excuses.

Also to add i wouldnt ever consider the highly polished heatshields going around various clio forums at the moment because the transfer rate of heat is greatly increased so you run the risk of melted fuel lines and over heating brake lines

Making a heat shield out of metal has to be one of the dumbest things ive seen. First thing you learn in my GCSE chemistry lessons about metals is they are good conductors of heat.

Yep, this is on my list, been trying to get a quote from the garage since Friday - he's a good mechanic but crap at customer service. Chased him up this morning, he remembered the wheel bearing but thought ~I wanted a clutch rather than cam belt and aux belt pricing!

I'm in 2 minds whether to do it myself, From what you were saying Rob it seems It'd be not much more effort to do the cambelt whilst I'm at it. I can just imagine something else going wrong, like, I dunno, needing to replace one of the pullys or something daft! Idealy I'd have been quoted by yesterday and would have been easier to weigh up for my day off today and friday.
