Just been out to look and see why one of my wheels is extremely filthy around the centre cap and have discovered os outer rear pad is down to nothing, rubber boot covering handbrake mechanism is messy, looks like i have to find the funds for another caliper, discs and bearings. Already have the pads

Jacked up wheel jammed solid. Bugger
Wheel off, snapped head of a snap-on torx driver in pad retaining screw. Bugger
Split pin out slider stuck, bangs out in the end
Much huffing and puffing and i manage to lever inside pad out
Rubber seal around piston is split, bugger
Take the carrier off
Spray wd40 all around piston and wind it in and out 4-5 times and now goes in and out no problem. Phew
In the mean time vibration has made the snapped of torx bit fall out of the screw, try another bit and they both come out
Lever out outside pad
Clean up and fit new outer pad, fkme that was tight but went in
line slot in piston up and fit new inner pad, fit retaining sprin over pad
Bang sliding plate back in and push in split pin.
Try brake discs lock and releases same with handbrake.
Happy days.
Now i can drive safe in the knowledge that i have brand new renault pads, disc is manky but ok bearing is quiet
New caliper need obtaining soon
Will do nearside on friday my next day off.

Old pads were shaggeroonied.

More likely to be the sliders that are jammed?

They stick if the seals arnt completely new. Plus gas into them is a good tempoary solution.

Rear caliper on exhange is £80 from GSF, and about £120 if not. They are pricey little buggers.

Well top slider was sticking, pulled it out wiped off with white spirit rubbed down some rough spots with wet n dry rewiped with white spirit and a tiny smear of copper grease, dont have any red grease, thatll do now until funds allow for new caliper

red grease is rubbish. I always use copper grease, its much more hardy.

Supposedly, but red grease just seems to wash off and the caliper ends up sticking again after a few weeks.
